Drought Brings Cattle Losses

Kalgoorlie, Sat: Due to several years' drought at Ma-dura Station, on Great Aus-tralian Bight, owned by former Kalgoorlie motor busi-ness man Mr. Bob Mackie, 400 head of cattle have died.

Remaining cattle, estimated about 500, spread over 574,000 aores, are to be mustered and driven to Loongana, 68 miles away on.the trans line, to be railed to Coonana, where feed and water are plentiful.

Goldfields Queens in WooI roloo Colony Queen contest were vMiss Margaret McFarlin, Norseman entrant, who raised more than £400, and Miss Marjorie Gleeson, of Boulder, "Queen of the Gol-den Mile," who is expected to

raise £600.

Both are in Perth for the special crowning celebrations at which John Pullard will be

master of ceremonies._
