It was an Axis claim that all valuable Equipment had-been de-stroyed in Tunisia.
But the Western Desert Air Force, including an Australian Ki tty ha wk squadron, found rich pickings on many captured air-
fields.
These included a variety ot cap-tured vehicles in first-class order.
Our airmen decided to make use of a number of .enemy ; Alfa Romeos, Fiäts," Daimlers, Benz, Citroens and Renaults.
A course was pegged round an airfield and an exciting "Grand
Vrix" staged.
W.A. driver Jack Bartle, who was commanding the Australians, and is now a Flight-Lieutenant, showed plenty of skill and pace in a high-powered Citroen and dragged off first prize of a
"fiver."
