Bamford, who won the Melbourne- Hunt Steeplechase at Moonee Valley last Wednesday on his own mare, Fellow Mountain, had - the misfortune to break a wrist while out hunting with the Oakland Hounds on Saturday. At the last fence of the htrat, Mr. Bamford's mount baulked and unseated him, and his wrist was broken in the fall. He will, consequently, not be able to ride in races for several weeks. Imputation led into the straight with the field apparently beaten, and Jones eased her. with the result, that Tookarby. who had been last all the way, and then Rot a lucky run on the -rails at the home turn, caught her inside the distance, and before Imputation' could-he got going at her ton the pair flashed pasr the post with Tookarby the winner by half a head.
