HELMSDALE.

A block of land at the south-western cor ner of. tne West Torrens Distrct Council area, adjoining a part of the. eastern boun dary of Glenelg, has been recently divided, and a large portion of it sold in building

blocks which the owners are in many cases already beginning to utilize. There is a pro bability that a number of houses will be built and occupied at an early date. The land lies between the Glenelg railway line and the Adelaide road, and is named Helms dale. It is so close to Glenelg that the in habitants will certainly have to look to that place for the supply of postal, light ing, drainage, and other facilities, and the distance from the more closely settled places under the control of the district council will be an effectual barrier to obtaining such conveniences from any other source. In the circumstances the natural course seems to be that the new settlers should endea vour to obtain a separation from the West Torrens District Council, and be incorpora ted with the town of Glenelg. A movement having that object in view is already on foot, and a petition was presented to the Glenelg Corporation on Friday night pray ing that this should be done. Considera tion was deferred for a fortnight.
