'Hunted' boy has big role

Kidnappers.' Jon, now aged 8, won wide praise for his work with Dirk Bogarde in the thriller 'Hunted.' In the new film he and Vincent Winter, 5, are brought to a primitive community at Scotchtown, Nova Scotia, in 1906. It is the wistful innocence of the children which reconciles the clash of wills round them. * * fyHE British film industry x is coming into its own with top box-office listing of both stars and films. In a poll conducted by the American Motion Picture Herald to find the biggest box-office star and film release in England during 1953, Jack Hawkins was selected as the top star in British cinemas. 'The Cruel Sea,' in which Hawkins plays Capt. Ericson, was England's choice lor the year's biggest success. It is the first time both an English star and film have been placed in top money-making position in a poll conducted throughout nearly 5.000 theatres. Following Hawkins in the box-office star list were — Bob Hope, Alan Ladd, Gregory Peck. Martin and Lewis. Bing Crosby, John Wayne. Stewart Granger, Doris Day.
