His £300 picture

13 SA artists in Dunlop show

Works by 13 South Australian artists will be feotured in the Dunlop contest exhibition, opening jt John Martin's Gotlery on

Thursday.

The National Gallery director (Mr. Robert Campbell) will open the exhibition at 3.30 p.m. It will last 10 days. More than 70 pictures were entered by South Australians in the contest and two of these were awarded top prizes. Max Ragless won third prize of £100 in the section for oils, and Jacqueline Hick second prize of £50 in the watercolors section. About 900 paintings came from all. parts of Australia to Melbourne to be judged for the contest in May. It took the judges three days to decide the awards. The total prizemoney was £1.050.

With prizewinners, there will be 26 artists represented in the show here. South Australian artists included are: Max Ragless, Margarita Stipnicks, Timothy Messack, Ronald Bell, Clive Lock. Alex Sadlo, Anton Riebe, Jacqueline Hick, Mervyn Smith, Juta Puust, Thomas Bone, Duncan Goldfinch, and Antanas Rukstele.
