CUBALLING NOTES

Welcome rains have again fallen during the past few days, and will prove greatly beneficial to the later crops and gardens. The total this year so far is about 4% inches, and is about the lowest for a number of years.

On the 26th inst, the Yornaning Hall, some six miles from Cuballing, will be opened. This is a nicely constructed wooden building, and will be a great boon to the general public of this growing though yet small place.

Illnesses in children are very preva-lent at present, the usual winter ail-ments being contracted with monoto-nous regularity.

The Church of England held a eu-chre party and dance on Wednesday evening of last week. The attendance was not large, though^ an enjoyable time was spent by those who did roll

up.

There Ja every prospect of a new school being built here. An inspectoi from the department made an inspec-tion at the present premises and founc them altogether unsatisfactory. He is recommending a new building to b< put in hand at once. This is due t< the persistent efforts of the loca teacher. Mr. Karry J. Iles, and parent: should congratulate themselves 01 having such an energetic teacher ii

charge.
