The ss. Havilah arrived in Hobson's Bay yesterday, at noon, from Adelaide. Captain Thom reports having experienced light winds from N.E. and E. throughout

the passage

THE Otago Steamship Company's s.s. Scotia anchored in Hobsons Bay at half-past eleven a.m. yesterday. During; her absence she has called at the ports of Invercargill, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Picton, Wellington, and Nolson,androvlalted them all on her return. She left Port Chalmers on the 17th inst., at six p.m., and Bluff Harbour at eight a.m. on the 10th, with a strong southerly breeze On the same day, at four p.m., passed Solander Island. By ten p.m., the wind had increased to a heavy gale, accompanied by a heavy cross-fire, Tara severe weather, with squalls, continued throughout the following day. During the remainder of the passage had moderate weather, Passed Swan Island at ten a.m. on the 23rd Inst., and received her pilot off

Port Philip Heads at a quarter to eight am. yesterday

THE steamship Aldinga, with the New Zealand homeward mails, left Port Chalmers at five p.m. on the 18th Inst, but owing to the severity of the S W gale then blowing, did not leave the heads until 9.30 a.m. on the 10th She arrived at the Blair at 10 SO pm. the same evening Weather very thick, and the wind blowing hard from S S E Lay in Bluff Harbour until two a.m. on the morning of the 20th, the wind blowing so strong that the mail boat and passenger boats were unable to got near the vessel before that hour Having received mails and passengers, left Bluff Harbour, and experienced strong S by E winds during the next day From the 21st to passing Swan Island, at 7 30 p.m., on the 23rd line, and light W winds and smooth water Entered Port Philip Heads atfivopm on the 24th, and arrived in Hobson's Bay at 7 30 p in
