MEXICO.

(FROM THE SAN FRANCISCO BULLETIN, NOV. 23.)

The statement that General Negrete had retaken Puebla is not confirmed. It pro-bably arose from the fact that he has become military governor of the State of Puebla, and threatens the fortification of that name. As to war matters in general, it seems that both sides are for the present lying on their arms, as little could be accomplished during the rainy season. This month, however, the roads will be in good condition again, and we will probably soon hear that the new cam-paign has been opened with vigour. The French are said to have recently received large reinforcements and munitions of war; and the Juarez Government have not been behind hand in securing large quantities of the latter. It is understood that a new levy of 8,000 men from this state has been deter-mined on, and Copalo stands ready to fur-nish her quota with promptitude. A "mili-tary academy" has sprung into existence, in

which two or three times a week the battalion officers are instructed-the fine for absence from any of its meetings being 5dol., which none of them can afford to incur. The quota from Panuco, Copalo, and San Sebastian, is said to be 800 men. At this rate the Republic will have an immense army to oppose the forces of the Monarchy.
