MR. GOODE. M.P. (Stanley).

Mr. Clarence Goode, who headed the poll for Stanley, was born at Canowie Station on August 17, 1875. He is a son of Mr. Thomas Goode, who managed Canowie Sta-

tion for about 30 years, and subsequently managed the late Mr. J. H. Angas's sta-tion for 10 years. He was educated pri-vately and at the Canowie Public School, and the Glenelg Grammar School, under the late Mr. Frederick Caterer. Mr. Goode, who for many years has been interested

in farming and grazing, was elected Coun-cillor in the Gladstone Corporation in De-cember, 1902, and was returned unopposed two years later. He was for some time Chairman of the Gladstone branch of the

Agricultural Bureau, and has taken keen interest in matters affecting the agricultural industry. In 1906 he was returned to the Assembly at the head of the poll for Stan-ley.
