WOORABINDA TEAM TO PLAY TOMORROW

The much delayed match be* tween the Rockhampton Junior A representative team and a team from the Woorabinda Aboriginal Settlement will take place at th« Rugby League Grounds tomorrow.

The Woorabinda team's visit* in former seasons have alwayc aroused great public interest, for the team can be relied apon to be in the best of condition and quite capable of turning on their best

football for the full 70 minutée and still have condition in reserve.

Football authorities at the settlement were endeavouring ta arrange a match in Rockhampton prior to th« visit of the English team so that the Central Queens-land selectors .could consider the inclusion of some of the settle-ment players in the Central Queensland team against the Eng-

lishmen.

Woorabinda did not send a team to Rockhampton during the war years but since their last visit the standard of football and sport in general has shown a marked im* provement in aboriginal settle-ments. This «as effectively shown in Maryborough on September 1 when a team from the settlement at Cherbourg, captained hy Frank Fisher, defeated the Maryborough senior erode representative: team.

The Woorabinda team has not suffered a defeat this season and on Sunday will be captained by Oscar Munns, one of the best liveeighths; in the district. They will be out in foll strength and with their massive pack of forwards and fast moving backlrne will be diffi-

cult to defeat.

The Rockhampton Junior A team

is the undefeated winner of the

Williams Cup and has scored apr proximately 200 points with only 17 being scored against it. lt will meet a team tomorrow stronger than any it has encountered previ-ously and-will have a difficult task.

The Woorabinda team is aa fol-

PARRIS CUP

Tho final match in the Junior B grade for the season will be played as a curtain raiser tomor-row when Park Avenue and Norths will meet again for the Farris Cup. There is very little difference m the strength of these teams. On the last occasion they met Park Avenue was successful by a lastminute penalty goal. Both team« will lose a certain number of their heavier players owing to the age restriction placed upon thia cup game, but this has equal effect on both teams and should nbt br detrimental to the game.

VENABLES CUP

The final game in the - minor grade will also be staged tomorrow when Brothers meet Christian Bro* there' College for the Venables Cup. Brothers had a décisive win lover CBC on Sunday last and

(should be able to repeat their per

j form an ce.
