La€rosse final to E. Torrens

By Point

East Torrens beat Brighton 5 — 4 today for the A Grade lacrosse premiership at Hawthorn Oval. Brighton showed surprisingly good form and might have won had play lasted longer.

'THE standard of play was x poor for a final game, particularly in the first half. Torrens attacked and had most of the play in the first quarter, but made the mistake of attempting to find Matthewman, who was well held by Swalling. Stickwork was poor at this stage. Passes were astray. At half-time, Torrens led 2— 0, both goals from Matthewman.

M. Hamilton and J. Horwopd goaled for Brighton in the tl^rd term, but a goal by Gorman kept Torrens ahead 3—2 at the final change. Edwards (Brighton) beat Hansford to even the score with a fine goal. Two quick goais from Matthewman made the game safer for Torrens, but Hayden scored again for Brighton and M. Hamilton missed an easy shot from close in which would have evened the score. Brighton continued to attack, but were unable to score again. Legacy defeated Glenelg in the B Grade final, but will have to play East Torrens (minor premiers) in the challenge final next Saturday.
