Britt Wins Classic

LONDON, Wed.-The Australian jockey, Edgar Britt, (in action above), rode Nearula to victory in the first classic of the season, the Two Thousand Guineas, at Newmarket today. Nearula, the warm 2 to I favourite, won easily by four lengths from Bebe Grande (10 to 1) with Oleandrin (20 to 1) third. Nearula, who is by Nasrullatt from Respite. won the one' mile race for three-year-olds in 1.38. The Queen watched her colt, Aureole. run well and finish sixth. His main mission is the Derby. Britt made his effort on Nearula two furlongs from home. Nearula then drew away to win in splendid style. It was the first success of a Yorkshire-trained horse in this classic this century.
