LOSS OF A FRENCH BARQUE.

The i reach barque Gael, from Mauritius, calling here for orders, reports having aboard Capt. Cauvert and 27 of the crew of. the. French barque Ville de Orleans,

which ted foundered. The boats from the latter were sighted on -July 13, and the Gael picked them up. The Ville de Orleans left Glaggow on March 29 for Brisbane, laden with rails, consigned to the agency of Messrs. T. Brown & Sons. The vessel sprang a leak, and the crew, by laborious pumping, checked the inflow tor 20 days. Then the leak increased, and the only alternative was to abandon the emit. This was done about 440 miles off Southwest Cape, Tasmania, and the vessel subsequently foundered. When picked up, the captain of the Ville de Orleans and crew reported 'All well.' The French Consul here bus cabled the news of the disaster to France, and arrangements will be made to sevure return passages for the shipwrecked crew.
