William Henry Simmonds, formerly editor of tlvc "Mercury."' who retired after IS years in the editorial chair, died
to day.
He «as born at Stonobridge, England, 74 years «go, and became editor of a daily e\ening newspaper at thc agc of 2ñ. After occupying other positions on English newspapers be became assistant editor to the "t ape Argus." Cape Town. He «as no\t appointed news editor of the "Tall Mall Uazotto." and later «as London manager of the "tape Times."
