IA DINGO WITH A PAST.

TRAPPED AND KILLED AFTER

MANY YEARS.

USUAL MEAL. A 40-LB. SHEEP.

Sydney, December '26.

I -After ranging for years over about 12 1 square miles of country between Deep-water and Dundee River, killing in that time over 600 sheep and injuring many more, a large black dingo turning grisly grey, with ten years of wickedness and minus a front paw which it had left in a trap five years ago, at last forget its cunning and placed a hind leg in another trap. Mr. John Bacon, of Ten-mile, who had been following the depredator for seven days, heard its lion-like roaring," as it is described, and with his gun dispatched the dog. The animal 's usual meal was a 40lb. sheep, which he would gorse, and remain satisfied for three days. He would kill others and leave them till he got a fat one For years sheepowners tried singlehanded to catch him, but recently they

combined and subscribed 60 for his destruction, and the money now goes to Mr.

Bacon.
