.BOWER RAILWAY-STATION.

The railway office at the Bower Station was

closed last week, and the Stationmaster, Mr. W. J. West has been transferred to another country station. Bower is a centre for wood carters in

connection with the dispatch of mallee. Many thousands of tons of long wood and mallee roots are annually sent from Bower the city. The removal of the stationmaster means reverting to the old arrangements, and the accounts will in future be kept by the nearest located officer.
