OBITUARY.

The death occurred at Sydney on Tuesday of Mr. Washington Handley Soul at his residence, Strathfield. Born in London 82 years aco.

Mr. Soul entered the mercantile marine and rose to the rank of master. He came to Sydney in 1S63, and with his father. Mr. Caleb Soul, established the firm of manufacturing chemists in Pitt street which carries his name. He retired 24 years ago, and the amalgamation with Messrs. Pattisou & Co. took place.

Mr. E. Neale Wigg, who died at his residence, Ettrick avenue, Medindie, last Monday, at an advanced age, was the eldest son of the late Mr. E. S. father's business on' leaving school, and remained in it for many years. For a considerable period Mr. Wigg was a director of the Broken Hill Proprietary Company, of which for some years he was Chairman, and on that account he went to reside in Melbourne. The latter part of his life was spent in England, but about five years ago he returned to South Australia and settled at Medindie. ? For the past two years he had been an invalid. The late Mr. Wigg was a particularly well-read man,' and was o£ a very retiring disposition. He has left a widow. His onlyson, Dr. Frank Wigg, died in Scotland some years ago. Superintendent M. Campbell (Chief of the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Victorian Police Force) died at his hotnu in Middle Park (Vic.) on Wednesday. The late Superintendent Campbell had 33 years' service with the force, and was cnb of its most efficient and popular officers. During the police mutiny he played a big part in controllinj; the pu'jlic and cnllk in the city. Dr. T. H. Lovegrove, formerly principal medical officer in Western Australia*, and District Coroner for Fremantle and Perth, died on Wednesday at Perth at the age of 82 years. He was born In Sussex, and went to Western Australia in the early days- He was at one thai medical officer in the convict service.
