THROUGH ROAD, RAIL AND WATER

TRAFFIC.

The World Motor Congress, which met in Rome last autumn, decided to request the international organizations concerned to arrange an international competition for the best system of "con-tainer" for through traffic of goods by road, rail and water. The experts appointed by the international organizations to prepare this competition met recently at the Headquarters of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris with Senator Crespi, President of the Royal Automobile Club of Haly; in the chair. This discussion had largely to do with the requirements a model container must meet in order to be acceptable to the greatest number of countries, and the experts were agreed that the final conditions of the competitions could not be drafted before this first point had been settled. They, however, proceeded to a temporary selection of two types of containers upon which, in accordance with the proposal made by the representatives of the International Railway Union, the inter-national organization concerned are to be asked to express their views.
