THE PERUVIAN AMAZON

COMPANY,

NO RETURN TO SHAREHOLDERS. RUBBER ATROCITIES RECALLED.

\ LONDON, March 19.

The official receiver of the Peruvian Amazon Company, who was appointed last year, following the investigation of the atrocities committed on the Indians en-gaged in gathering rubber, has furnished his report on the company's position. He states that the estates sold to the company were not of the value set forth in the prospectus, nor did they produce the pro-fits stated on the prospectus. The failure of the concern, he says, was due to the ineffective control exercised by the Eng-lish directors. He accuses the South American directors, managers, and em-ployés of gross mismanagement. He con-cludes by announcing that the proceeds will only yield a nominal dividend to the credi-tors, and there will be no-return for the shareholders.
