WIFE REFUSES TO RETURN HOME

Court Orders Her To Do So

SYDNEY, Thursday.— A decree for resti-tution of conjugal rights against Norah Ebsworth Hordern was granted Dr. Her-bert Vivian Hordern, of Macleay street,

Potts Point, by Mr. Justice Stephen in the Divorce Court today. Dr. Hordern is the well-known googly bowler of pre-war tests. He said that on February 11, 1929, he wrote the following letter to his wife: — "Dear Norah — It is exactly six years this month since you and I lived together as husband and wife and I feel that this condition of affairs cannot go on indefi-nitely. As to the cause of our dis- agreement there were unquestionably faults on both sides-I being, perhaps, too intolerant and you too stubborn, both ele-ments sufficient to perpetuate a quarrel. But, all said and done, that was a long time ago. ... As both our children are at school in   Sydney there can be no reason for your continuing to live alone at Moss Vale. Therefore, I now earnestly ask you to re-turn to me and fulfil your obligations as my wife. Let bygones be bygones and make a fresh start together. Mrs. Hordern replied four days later saying it was impossible for her to live with him as his wife and she had no in-tention of doing so. The order directed Mrs. Hordern to re-turn to her husband within 21 days.
