LACROSSE.

THE PREMIERSHIP MATCH.

GOOD WIN FOR NORTH ADELAIDE.

North Adelaide have carried off the premiership Their display on Saturday was of a convincing order, for they left in doubt in the minds of spectators as to then superiority. A- fair crowd of interested persons witness the game at the Unley: Oval. The teams were-North Adelaide -A. J. Rudd (captain), J. 0. Stephens, G K. Thomas, A. Morphett, T. G. Simpson L. Hughes, A. Mann. G. Pavy, R.X,. Raymond, A. Ballans, A. Tonkin, and R. Hocking Sturt-T. Norton, R. Pine-tï, H. T Nicholas. C. V. Hughes, H. A. Wicks, V P. Russell, H Tilley. W. C. Noblett' A G. Pinch, A. R. Taylor, R. G. Lee, and L. Humphris..

Tilley (Sturt) filled a vacancy due. to the fact that R. P. Goode was unwell while Rudd (North Adelaide) took the place of H. Holmes, who had injured his' knee. At the face off Sturt attacked, but Ballans relieved and Stevens had a ship; which was frustrated. L. Hughes., however, after doing some fine work, was found the net for North. . Sturt replied with a goal! from the crosses of Noblett. who was playing quite up to his old form Nicholas and Humphris were prominent at this stage, Noblett's goal being due to a pass from Humphris, who executed a long run. A, G. Pinch did some fine work but failed to score. Before the term closed Ballarat put in some solid play, and netted Norths' third goal The second term was the most evenly contested of the afternoon. Sturt played their best, and that combined with Norths' fine exhibition, made the game highly interesting. Noblett and! Humphris scored for Sturt, while Morphett found the net and Simpson knocked the ball in, leaving the scores at half-timeNorths, 5 Sturt, 3. After half-time Sturt failed to score. Their forward men were: completely outclassed by Norths' defence. In the third term Simpson, whose panic had been a trifle selfish at the beginning of the match, played well at times and netted

the ball twice. Sturt's passing was faulty, and North often secured a pass meant for an Qpuonent. R. Pinch came to the fore in relief, and Noblett, after a fine run, got in, but missed. L. Hughes was prominent, and passed repeatedly to Simpson, who showed himself capable of taking a pass in the most difficult circumstances. In gral Rudd and Horton were equally smart still kept down the scores with remarkable skill. The last quarter proved a walkover for North Adelaide, who put on three more goals. Sturt had an occasional flash in the nan, but North Adelaides' sharks carried too many guns for them. Sturt failed to knock the ball; in from a scrimmage in front, and generally showed that the combination and accurate passing of their opponents had left them completely out of the running. The final scores were:

North Adelaide, 10 goals. Sturt, 3 goals.

For North Adelaide Rudd was cool and clever as captain and a triumph of dexterity in goal. All the team played we the other most prominent men being Hockbrig. Hughes, Stephens, Mann. Tonkin. Raymond and Simpson. Their goalthrowers wore Simpson (4). Hughes (2). and Railvans. Morphett, and Thomas, and one knocked in. The losers were best repre-sent! by Noblett, C. V. Hughes-, Wicks. Pinch (2), and Horton (in goal). Their goal-throwers were Noblett (2) and Humphris.
