Bush Fire Threat To Stations DARWIN. - One of the worst grass fires in the history of the. Northern Territory has already burned for 100 miles and has caused damage to thousands of acres , of grazing land. " Outback settlers assisted by tribes of natives were ye,, terday desperately trying to bring the blaze under control. The fire broke out near the aerodrome at Elliott, South of Darwin, and quickly spread through tinder dry i grass. It swept through ' Newcastle Waters station and is roaring onto the Dunmarra and Beetaloo stations. All hands on these stations have been working round the clock moving cattle from the danger area or fighting the outbreak.
