SEEKS AIRPORT FOR STRAHAN TEST Strahan can be made into a first-class airport for the West Coast of. Tasmania, according to Senator R. Murray. He said yesterday he knew of no other area of comparable population in importance in Australia where the residents had to make an eight-hour rail or road journey to reach an air service. A service could be run between Hobart, Strahan, Wynyard, King Island, and Melbourne. Preliminary surveys ahd meteorological observations had shown that West Stiahan was the only suitable spot for an airport on the West Coast.
