NORTH'S BEST MITCHELL Merv. Mitchell was adjudged North Launceston Football Club's best and fairest player for 1949, the president (Mr. . M. Newman announced at the club's jubilee and fourth premiership dinner last night. Mitchell won "The Examiner" and the "Mercury" trophies for best and fairest in the N.T.F A. this year and was also runner-up to Max Rees (Cornwall) for the Tasman Shields trophy-the association's best and fairest award.. Other North Launceston trophy winners announced by Mr. Newman were: -"Bricky" Hutchinson memorial trophy (best man on and off the field), G. Claridge: A J. Monaghan trophy (best and fairest), M. Mitchell; Elliott :memorial shield (best first-year player), N. Clarke; S. Reynolds trophy (sterling play), M. Burke; J. L. Madden trophy (most useful), J. Leedham; G. Luttrell trophy (most consistent), N. Atkins; Max Geeves trophy (best' back man), J. Hawkesley; C. McNear trophy (most determined), G. Wood; Bert Bishop trophy (best and fairest)., M. Mitchell; Mrs. J. O. Young's memorial trophy, Dr. J. Meagher; G. Wardlaw memorial cup (best all-round player, N. Atkins; A. Moy trophies (outstanding play for season) K. Pennicott, (consistent) J. Hawkesley; Miss M. Cocker's cup (most unselfish), W. Hird; kbbott's (best utility), R. Summers; Athol Martin's trophy (sterling play), R. Redman; J. Billing's trophies (consistent play) B..
