AUSTRALIAN FILMS SCinesound's Policy Mr. Stuart Doyle announced in Sydney yesterday that the director of Cinesound Productions Ltd. had determined the company's future policy, following reports brought by him from England and America. The company will produce between five and six feature productions annually for Australian and world distribution, and next year will Introduce a second unit for the production of outdoor pictures. Fifty-two Cinesound. reviews will be produced annually, and items of international interest will be taken by the company under contract with the Pathe Gazette in London, the U.F.A. Film Trust in Germany, Pathe Freres, Paris, and Motro-Goldwyn.?-ayer in the United States.Cinesound Cinesound will endeavour to build up Australian players into the rank of stardom, as they show promise, and will, from time to time, arrange for these stars to appear in films made overseas. Occasionally it will be necessary to import stars for special roles, and an organisation has been set up in Hollywood and London for this purpose. Mr. Stuart Doyle, having established a market in England for Cinesound pictures, the basis of production will be estimated on 40 per cent, of the production cost being returned from England and 60 per cent. earned in Australia and New Zealand, A small proportion of the cost may be secured from foreign countries, but no revenue is expected from the United States, where Australian pictures are not in favour. Cinesound has set up in England its own marketing, publicity, and cutting organisation, the latter for films that are made in Aus. tralia to be cut where required to the length desired for British exhibition The 1936-37 schedule of production is:-"Orphan of the Wilderness," with Gwen Munro, Brian Abbot, Joe Valil, Harry Abdy, Ron Whelan, and "Chut," the boxing kangaroo. This picture is completed, and will be released at Christmas in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne. "It Isn't Done" is a sophisticated comedy-romance, part. produced in England and Australia, featuring Cecil Kellaway, Shirley Ann Richards, John Longden, Frank Harvey, Campbell Copelin, and Harvey Adams. "Tall Timbtre." from an original screen play by Captain Frank Hurley, will go into production on January 1, for release at Easter. Rolf Boldrewood's "Robbery Under Arms," with an imported star, "Pearl of Great Price," and "Yellow Sands" are others in preparation. The company will also continue its policy of producing pictures of Australia's great Industries by Captain Frarik Hurley .
