TWO BOMBS THROWN Indian Assembly Outrage Members Injured CALCUTTA, April S. Two bombs were thrown in the Indian Assembly to-day, and Sir George Schuster (Finance Member), Sir Bomanji Ardeshir Dalal, Mr. R. B. Rao, and Mr. Shankar Rao, were hurt. Sir Bomanji Dalal was- seriously injured. Mr. S. N. Roy. (Deputy Secretary of the Indian Central committee, which assists the Simon Commission) was injured in the hamL Two men, Batukeshwar Dutta, of Bengal, . domiciled in Cawnpore, and Bhagat Singh, of the Punjab, were immediately arrested and found to be in possession of bombs and revolvers. A Communist pamphlet headed, "Hindustan Socialist Republican Army Notice," signed by Bal Raj (honorary Chief), was also thrown with the bombs. The Chamber presented a terrible scene filled with smoke. Two of the Government benches were entirely wrecked, and members of the House and those in the crowded galleries fled panic stricken. The police locked tlhe doors, and the House was adjourned till Thursday. .Sir John Simon rwas ! in the President's gallery when thel bombs were thrown. Later. The outrage took place just as M)r. Patel (President of the Assembly) was,. about to give his ruling in regard to the Public. Safety Bill giving the Indlan Government power to report agitators. Recently 33 men, alleged to be Conmunlst agitators. were arrested in different parts of India, and' Mr. Patel's expected ruling was as to whether discussion of the bill -should be postponed until after the trial of these men. Sir John Simon, as chairman of the . Royal Commission of enquiry into the 1 working of the system of Government, and the development of representative institutions, has been showing close interest in the working of the ILegislative Assembly. Sir George Schuster, whose injuries are stated to be very slight, has had wide international experience in finoance and economics. He was formerly a partner in the banking firm of Schuster in London.
