Egypt bans film of the defeat of Rommel

NEW YORK, January 14 — Egyptian censors have banned a film showing Australian and British troops defeating German Field Marshal Rommel in World War

II. But they have allowed

Rommel's Hollywood made biography, "The Desert Fox," to be shown. Twentieth Century-Fox announced yesterday that Egypt had rejected the sequel, "The Desert Rats." The film, made to show the same desert fighting

as "The Desert Fox" from the other side, stars British actors Richard Burton and Robert New-ton and Australian Chips Rafferty. The entertainment trade paper Variety said yesterday a possible ex-planation was that the present Egyptian regime did not want to remind its people that it was the Eighth Army which de-fended the country
