DIESELS IN FAST HAUL

MELBOURNE, Wednesdoy. — Vietorio's two Sydney-built diesel-elec-tric locomotives made rail-

way history to-day. They combined to haul 75 trucks carrying 1121 tons of goods up the Ingliston bank on the Adelaide line in 44 minutes. Normally two A2 class steam locomotives haul 690 tons up the incline in 67 minutes. The Ingliston bank, near Ballarat, is a 14-mile long hill, with a grade of one foot in 48 — the steepest main line track in Victoria.
