ON MOUNT ROLAND The other day a small party paid a visit to the top of Mount Roland, and whilst having a look round some miles away from the track down the mount a thick fog enveloped them, forcing tliem to remain all night. fortunately a. sheltered spot was soon found,, and plenty of wood. As they did not re turn that night, another party early1. next morning went up, and reached the. top of the gorge as the others entered it, the fog having cleared off a short time previously. Disappointment was expressed at the fog preventing teem from seeing the sunrise, which is said to be a beautiful sight by those who have witnessed it. It may be men tioned that the track up the mountain is greatly improved since the council's men scrubbed and cleared it. .The view from the top amply repays the climb up, as on clear days the steamers visiting Devonport and Burnie are plain ly to be seen without the aid of the glass.
