MUSIC AND DRAMA. South Perth Movement. A public meeting called by the South Perth Road Board to ascertain the possibilities of promoting music and drama in the district was held in the Road Board Hall last night and was largely attended. The chairman of the road board (Mr. D. F. Vincent) presided and outlined the purpose of the meeting. Mr. W. C. G. Thomas, president of the South Perth Community Centre Association, promised support of the project by all other organisations in the community group. It was decided to form a South Perth Musical and Dramatic Society, and the following officers were appointed: Hon. secretary, Mr. E. S. Everett; hon. treasurer. Mr. Hudson Taylor; provisional committee, Messrs. C. H. Campbell (chairman), J. W. Glassford, D. O. Edgar, M. H. Mumdy, G. Reid, A. G. Ashton and R. Stirling, Mesdames P. Gibbings, E. S. Everett and M. Gliddon. The scope of activities of the newly-formed society will embrace orchestral, choral and dramatic work The first meeting of the committee will be held this evening, and intending members should communicate with the hon. secretary (MU1624) to ascertain the date of the first rehearsal
