AGA KHAN'S TULYAR TAKES THE DERBY

T ONDON, May 28 (A.A.P.).— The ? Aga Khan's Tulyar came with a terrific rush through the straight to win the 173rd English Derby (£24,220) to-day.

uay Time, another English-bred colt, was second, find Faubourg II, one of the eight French invaders, was third. A last-minute plunge brought Tulyar's price from 100 to 8 to 11/2. The winner was ridden by C. Smirke, and young Piggott piloted the second horse. 3 Aussies ride Compared with six last year, only three Australians —Togo Johnstone, Ted Fordyce, and Edgar Britt-rode in to-day's Derby. Their mounts were:. Johnstone (Marsyad), Fordyce (Thunderhead II), and Britt (Nick La Rocca). 'First time' Fordyce was expected to have a great chance of living up to his name on Thunderhead. 'The three placed horses all carried 9.0. The margins were threequarters of a length and one length. Tulyar's victory gave the Aga Khan his. fifth Derby.
