BIG PROGRAMME IN SENIOR SOCCER

THIRTY-ONE senior Soccer teams will play in the 1946 season, which opens to-morrow. Many interestinq duels

are expected. .

During last season only eigni senior teams competed, but the return of servicemen and keener interest in the code generally has re

sulted in many new teams being formed. Latrobe and Booval. inactive during the war years, have been reidmitted to the first division. 'In second -division 12 teams will take the field. New clubs to senior ranks are Wattles, Caledonians, Judinns, Raceview. Red bank, Oxley, ind Norman United. Results of to-morrow's games should give an early indication of .he strr^jgth. but clubs will be dejendent on their old regulars to see ;hem through. Corinthians, who have arranged in attractive opening for their new ??round at Langlands Park, will lave the assistance of. Morris and lead, while Dinny Love and H 3ool should be well in the picture. Their opponents. St. Helen's, re-ort the same team which took the Hemiership honours last season. I'ith Lex Gibb. Geo. Allen and 3obby Hill in fine form. Jim Rush, who suffered a serious njury last season, will reappear i-ith Blackstone. while Booval have nternational Jim Donaldson again , starter on their left wing. Burton n goal is a youngster with promise nd should do well. This game is et down for Blackstone.

Thistles have transferred Jones from this week's opponents, Latrobe. Jones is a determined fullback, and will be partnered by D, Barry in the defence. J. Clihche will be back on the right flank. Latrobes, with a youthful frflht line, will have the support of a recent capture in II. Zeelen, reported to be a Dutch international at centre-half. Cyril Boland is back in goal, and Bert Crewsdon will captain the side. Eastern Suburbs will have their mainstays in Duncan and Regan to support them in their game against Shafston Rovei-s at Heath Park, rhe Rovers will rely on Heddles, Cneyne, and Mann to keep their lines intact. Y.M.C.A., led by 'Wlngy' Nelson, frill travel to Bundamba and -ppose the local side. Ross Kitehng. late of the Navy, will play at nside-right. 'Pat' 'Kitching, at eft-back, and W. Laurie will appear at centre-half for Bundamba.
