By L. H.. KEARNEY

THE lion-hearted forward display of Henry ('Tarzan') Porter for Queensland against New South Wales at the Brisbane Cricket Ground on Saturday earned him The Courier-Mail's bonus of two £1 War Savings Certi

ficates. Herb Narvo, the New South Wales captain, paid Porter a fine tribute before leaving for Sydney yesterday. 'Apart from hooking, the Queensland pack eclipsed the Blues,' said Narvo. 'Nothing finer has been seen in Interstate football in recent years than the display by Porter and Westaway. 'Porter in the rucks was a superman. He did more to worry us than any other Queensland player, but Westaway was also great.' So good was Porter that at times

his devastating work in the rucks was reminiscent of those grand displays unfolded by Jim Bennett and later by Mick Madsen. Porter now is in test class. If he could only hold his form for a year or two longer, he would be a certainty for the

tests against England. He possesses all the traits of a perfect forward. He is strong, resolute, and indifferent to hard knocks and rough treatment. In fact, he is at his best when the situations become most torrid. At times he went through Saturday's rucks like a high powered reaper going through a wheatfield. Porter has played for both New South Wales and Queensland. He represented New South Wales in 1938-39-40. and 41.
