SOCCER CENTRE SCORES 8 GOALS

GIVING a brilliant exhibition, New South Wales Soccer team completely overwhelmed Queensland at Bun-damba yesterday, winning by 10 goals to nil.

Not since 1933 has Queens-

land suffered such a reverse, that year the visitors won 12-2 in Brisbane. The home team disappointed as a combination yesterday, and at no stage of the game looked any thing like their opponents. N.S.W. played like a well-oiled machine, their positional play and ball con-trol being in marked contrast to the haphazard moves of the Queensland team. R. Date, N.S.W. centre-forward, played brilliantly, and scored eight well deserved goals. He just did as he liked with the Queensland defence. J. Anderson and A. Johns scored the other two goals. The visiting attack was always superior, and played with cohesion and understanding. C. Stewart, C. Johns, and J. Cunningham stood out. A. Heaney was sound as a pivot, whilst the backs, D. Drum-mond and J. Marston, were hard to beat.. C. Evans. Queensland keeper, did well. He had no chance with the goals that beat him. The visiting keeper, K. Grieves, had a quiet day. On only two oc-

casions did he. appear to be in trouble. When Queensland started con-structive moves, the opposition in tercepted, or beat their man to the ball. The changes made by the home selectors did not improve the side. Again the half-back line lacked the necessary constructive tactics to give the attack any hope.
