HARTNETT ON WAY

Delivery of Queensland orders placed now for the new Hartnett car — now in produc tion—cannot be expected for

about nine months. The first Hartnett model, the Pacific convertible, was shown to the public for the first time yesterday at the Sydney Show. Its price has been provision ally listed at £590 including tax. It was originally hoped to be able to sell it under £500, but rising costs in the last 18 months have prohibited this. The managing director of the Hartnett Motor Company (Mr. L. J. Harlnett) said yesterday: 'Every endeavour will be made to keep down costs to hold the position of lowest-priced family car on the market.' Production lift Limited deliveries would be made in the next few months, but production would steadily increase. A sedan model, known as the Tasman, would follow later in the year, Mr. Hartnett said. The Hartnett is a four-pas senger car which makes exten sive use of light metal alloys. The production model weighs just over 1000lb., and is powered by a 600 c.c. flat-twin, four stroke, overhead valve engine developing 19 b.h.p.
