Around Yundamindera.

Dear "Non-Corn."-I was interested in "Ivanhoe's" letter re Linden and Yunda-mindera, although Yundamindera was un-known to me until eight years ago. Our home is situated between Yundamindera and Yerilla. The old Granites Hotel at Yundamindera has been the shearing quarters for the past eleven years. The homestead is eleven miles away.

We visit Linden every mail day (Thurs-days). The hotel was pulled down eight years ago, and the town consists of the old post office (a one-room galvanised shack) and Sam Ottery's house. The store blew down a few years ago. Most of the old hands have left or died, and most of the people are newcomers. A ¡few old hands-Jim McMahon and Long Herb Brown, Ned Molloy and Paddy Wil-liams-still manage to keep the billy boil-ing. The Linden battery has been work-ing overtime for the last twelve months, and is still managed by Tom Gardener.

The Bindah mme is still working, and a few new-discoveries have produced pay-able stone. At present the country is in a bad way, owing to the last few years' drought. The mulga is dead and black, and there is not a sign of anything green. The dam is almost empty, and, unless rain comes shortly, the prospectors will have to face the serious question of cart-ing water for miles.

My husband has been living in the dis-trict for the past 22 years, and he states that the past two years have been the driest he has ever experienced, so let's all hope for the best. Surely relief will

come in time.

I do not know the Nil Desperandum mine, although Nil Desperandum has been my password for years.
