Wool Again Attracts Keen Competition The demand at the Perth wool sale which opened on Monday remained keen yesterday and almost the whole of the wool offered was sold under the hammer.

Competition was well spread throughout the sale and Britain was the principal operator. The Continent and Australian mills gave good support. The total offering of 29,391 bales at this week's auctions consisted of 12,490 bales from the pastoral areas and 16,901 from the agricultural and southern districts.About About 5,000 bales of crutchings were included in the agricultural offering, which consisted mainly of prematurelyshorn wools of medium to strong quality. Elder, Smith and Co. Ltd. was the seller in the main room yesterday. The highest prices were: 125d. for seven bales of AAA combings from Gabyon Pastoral Co. Pty. Ltd., Wurarga; 117d. for five bales of AAA combings from Beaton Bros., Thundelarra station, via Wubin; 116d. for 11 bales of AAA combings from Lake Mason Pastoral Co., Sandstone; 114d. for 10 bales of AAA combings from Mt. Malcolm Pastoral Co, Glenorn station, via Malcolm; 1131d. for 12 bales of AAA from Melrose Station Pty. Ltd., Leonora, and 11214. for 11 bales of AAA combings from T. A. Sherwin, Collie. Atomic Survey: The Japanese Government, on May 17, will send 21 scientists to investigate radioactivity in the ocean around the Bikini atoll.
