FITZROY HAS MOUTH OF SEVEN MILES DERBY, Fri.-The flooded Fitzroy River is reaching the ocean as a stream seven miles wide. Swollen by the recent droughtbreaking Kimberley rains, the level of the brown water is slightly higher than that of the 1949 flood-level. Roads to many stations are still impassable. Several chartered flights have been arranged to bring in relief supplies to some. At Fitzroy Crossing the level has fallen. The water, however, is still 10ft. above the low-level crossing. Mud and sand deposits will make the crossing unserviceable for about three weeks. It is believed that Liveringa and Noonkanbah stations lost sheep in the flood but the actual numbers are not yet known. Shearers who finished at Liveringa yesterday will have to leave their trucks and fly to their next shed. in the Roebourne district.Other Other teams, on Myroodah and Noonkanbah resumed shearing a week ago.
