PERSONAL VICEREGAL. The Governor (Lieut.-General Sir Charles Gairdner) yesterday morning received Mr. C. D. Storrs and Mr. W. H. Matthews. Mr. J. T. Tonkin, Minister for Education, accompanied by the Director of Education (Dr. T. L. R6bertson) will leave Perth this morning for Kojonup, where he will officially open the new school. Mr. IL H. Styants, Minister for Railways, accompanied by the new Assistant Commissioner of Railways (Mr. R. E. B. Lee) left yesterday by car for Bunbury and Collie. They will return to Perth tomorrow afternoon. Sir Percy Spender, Australian Ambassador to Washington, left London for New York on Tuesday on his way to resume duty after a visit to Australia. Professor D. O,. Jordan passed through Fremantle in the liner Strathmore yesterday to take the new chair of physical chemistry at the Adelaide University. He was formerly a lecturer at .the University of Nottingham. M. Francois Huet, a 29-year. old Frenchman from Brittany, arrived in the liner Strathmore yesterday to take up a three-year appointment as a lecturer in French at tfhe University of W.A. Mr. John Lloyd Balderston, foreign correspondent and playwright, who wrote "Berkeley Square," died on Monday of a heart attack in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, aged 64.
