TAIPAN VICTIM'S

MANY SNAKEBITES

Sydney.-Kevin Budden (20), who died at Cairns last month after having been bitten by a deadly Tai-pan snake, had been bitten by many other types of snake before, his mother disclosed.

Mrs. Budden sent her thanks to Mr. David Fleay. Melbourne zoo-logist, who dedicated money raised for him for having "milked" the snake, to Kevin Budden's parents.

She described Mr. Fleay's ac-tion as "wonderful. "

Mr. Budden, father of the dead snake collector, has been ill since news of the fatal bite was re-ceived.

Mrs. Budden said that she and her husband would use the money to visit Cairns and inspect their son's grave.

Kevin, she said, had made snakes his hobby soon after leav-ing school.

He joined the Australian Rep-tile Club and spent the weekends on trips to the bush seeking various species.

He built his own snake pit in the backyard, but this had now been dismantled.

Mrs. Budden said that she had received many letters from sym-pathisers since her son's death.
