SOUTHPORT'S BIG WATER SCHEME

SOUTHPORT, Monday. — The Southport Town Council to-night adopted a report on a water gravi tation scheme estimated to cost

£403,266. The report was submitted by Mr. W. A. Peak (engineer), and was adopted so far as it confirmed the proposal for a main 10.47 miles from Neranwood, on the Nerang River to augment Southport's water supply at an estimated cost of £392,980, with an additional main to Labrador at a cost of £10,286. A storage dam at Neranwood will hold 270 million gallons of water. The work is recommended to be done in stages.
