Trans Trains Stranded At Zanthus KALGOORLIE, Tues.-Two transcontinental expresses-one over a day behind schedule were stranded 124 miles east of Kalgoorlie today as the result of a derailment yesterday. The trains are the eastbound to Port Augusta, and the west bound, which left Kalgoorlie tonight five hours late. It is not expected in Perth until about 4.30 p.m. tomorrow. Five coaches of the eastbound express left the rails near Zan-thus, tearing up a section of the permanent way. Repair men worked through out last night and a deviation was completed late today. It was originally intended to transfer passengers on the west bound express to a relief train and bring them to Kalgoorlie. but the relief train, hauled by a diesel-electric locomotive, will now continue the eastward journey. The 130 eastbound passengers are expected in Adelaide tomor-row afternoon. Temperatures at Zanthus were over the century, but the air-conditioning in the derailed train continued to work.
