CURTAIN FALLS Making his final swim-ming appearance before leaving for England on Wednesday to study art, the 24-year-old painter and mu-sician Rolf Harris helped Bassendean to a 21-point victory against Guildford yesterday. Harris, who plans to sup-port himself while abroad by his earnings as an enter-tainer—he scored outstand-ing successes in Amateur Hour shows last year—has also won Australian hon-ours for swimming and is captain of the Bassendean club. Despite a recent illness, he showed during the weekend that he can still hold his own in good company. He won the senior men's back-stroke championship at Saturday's pennant carnival and was prominent in the Morley and Livie Cup com-petitions yesterday. Harris won the senior back-stroke and breast-stroke races and was a member of two winning re-lay teams.
