Death Of Mr. Hugh Crawford

Mr. Hugh John Crawford, 61, of Tarlton road, Somerton, a director of Walter Reynell & Sons Ltd., and formerly a director of his father's

firm, Crawford & Sons, King William street, Adelaide, died suddenly at his home on Sunday. Mr. Crawford was one of the best known members of the Adelaide Hunt Club and the Adelaide Polo Club, and was in his youth one of the outstanding amateur boxers in the State. He bad been deputy chairman of the SA Dried Fruits Board since 1928, and took a prominent part in the inauguration of a system of sending Christmas parcels from this State to England. . Mr. Crawford had wide literary tastes, and was a keen Shakespearian scholar. He was wellknown as a contributor to "The Advertiser" on hunting activities under the nome-de-plume of ''Roundabout," and was also a ! prominent oarsman. Mr. Crawford's wife died a few months ago. Before her marriage she was Miss Alexandrina Budge Cudmore. a sister of Dr. R. M. Cudmore. A son, Mr. Basil Crawford, grazier, of Naracoorte. and Misses Betty and Barbara Crawford, of Somerton. survive.
