LACROSSE SEASON CLOSES

University Wins Senior Grade Premiership.

The 1942 lacrosse season for senior and junior grades was closed on Saturday when the minor premiers (University and Sturt) were successful in the finals. The

semi-finals of the schoolboy division will be played next Saturday. University deserved its success, as It has been the most consistent team in the senior grade. This is the first occasion since 1924 that the students have been premiers. East Torrens attacked strongly from the outset, and scored 5 goals to 'its opponent s 2 in the first quarter. However, the game took a different complex In the second quarter, the student backs bustling the opposing forwards and attacks, while at the other end of the ground the 'Varsity forwards combined splendidly. There was only one goal d'nerence at the lons interval. In the third quarter ?Varsity took command of the game in the first part scoring 3 coals to give It the lead for the nrst time. However. Torrens fought back strongly, scoring three goals in quick succession to take the lead again Play was even for the remainder of the quarter, and, with the student-* scoriae 2 goals to 1. the tallies were II all at the final changeover. It appeared that there would be a thrilling Snish but ?Varsity proved too strong, and scored 5 goals to 1. Branfield. in goals.
