GLENELG'S NEW NOMENCLATURE

Four Major Areas

The Glenelg Council last night received and adopted a report of the town clerk (Mr. F. A. Lewis) stating that the names of Gray-

more. Helmsdale. Helmsdale North. Dunleath. Novar Gardens. Gro-vene. Da Costa Park. Broadway Estate. Saltram. Shirley Gardens. Golflands. St. Leonards. New Gle-nelg. East Glenelg. and North Gle-nelg would be eliminated, and the , new areas known in future as Gle nelg. Glenelg East. Glenelg North, and Glenelg South. Rates as fixed on the new sub divisions were based on the pre sent rate of 4¾d. in the pound. The new area to be known as Glenelg North would be north of Anzac High-way. with a rate revenue of £3,372, an area ol 382 acres; and a population of ?.302. Glenelg East area would be east of Brighton road, and return £4.356 in rates for an area of 319 acres and 2.931 people. Glenelg area would be bounded by Brighton road, Anzac Highway. Es-planade, and Pier street, an area of 216 acres, population 4.194. returning a rate revenue of £8,387 The area from Pier street to the southern boundary, from Brighton road to the beach, would be known as Glenelg South, and would show a rate revenue of £4,337. contain-ing 173 acres, with a population of 2,573 The total town rates would be £20,454. the area 1,092 acres, and the population about 12.000. The council decided that the new nomenclature be immediately forwarded to the proper authorities with a view to the new names being gazetted.

Estate.—Alexander j Woollcott. the US dramatist and i author, left an estate of approxi mately $70,000. half of which was bequeathed to a young Danish physician whom Woollcott sent through the Oniversitv. The small size of the estate, despite Wooll cott* big income, is attributed to bis well-known generosity.—AAP.
