East Torrens Wins Lacrosse Challenge Final

East Torrens. in a fast and vigorous game, narrowly defeated University in the lacrosse challenge trial at the 'Varsity Oval on Saturday.

Tlie standard of play at times was excellent, and. with tbe scores even throng-toot, tbe interest of spectators -was maintained until the final bell. Tor-Tens, showing great Improvement ln the forward lines, was fl—st to attack, and quickly scored three goals. It led by one goal at the first enonse over. -Varsity forged abead in the second crairter. gaining a lead of two goals, but Torrens, mainly through the efforts of Mesbit (centre), who played an excellent game, evened the scores. A goal from Nock Just before the long Interval gave the Norwood side the lead again. Parsons, the Torrens skipper, was Injured near the end of the second quarter and retired from the game, taking N. Wanman with him. Torrens had a lead of one goal at the last change-over. The stage was set for a -*_-ni*_y finish when ?-_?___ scored for the students early ln the last term. Zach side attacked strongly, but found the opposing backs too solid. However, Torrens eventually broke through, and Nolan scored. The students soon replied, and once again the scars were even. With only flve minutes to go, each side had - opportunities of acoring. and Torrens' regained the lead when Nesblt, In a great break from the centre, was successful witb a fast shot.
