Death Of Mr. J. H. Cooke Former M.L.C.

Mr. John Herbert Cooke. who died suddenly at his home at Cross road Malvern, yesterday, was a member of the Legislative Coun-

cil for 18 years. He was born at. , Payneham and would have been 76 on Tuesday. He completed his education at St. Peter's College. where he was a science prizewin-ner. Before entering Parliament in 1915 he was a member of the Unley City Council and was Mayor of Unley for three years. He was closely associated with the estab-lishment of the Soldiers' Home at Myrtle Bank. Mr. Cooke was a civil engineer and patent attorney. He was a past president of the Australasian Institute of Patent Attorneys and a member of the Federal Board of Examiners. He has left a widow and a daughter
