Death Of Mr. Sidney Wilcox

The death occurred on Satur-day of Mr Sidney Wilcox at his home at Brougham place. North Adelaide, at the

age of 75 The late Mr Wilcox was a son of the late George Wil-cox. one of the State's early settlers and for the past 14 years occupied him-self with pasto-ral interests, owning Brenda Park, at Morgan. and having an interest in Koonamore Station in the North-East. He was born at Mitcham, and received his education at John L Young's Parkside school going soon afterwards into his father's business. In 1889 he became a partner of his father and Mr Glen Legoe. and they purchased the firm or W. Mofflin & Co.. which later became George Wilcox & Co This was turned into a company, and was amalgamated with the firm of Mofflin & Co.. of Sydney, to become the present company of Wilcox, Mofflin Ltd The late Mr Wilcox remained a director until his re-tirement in 1938. his partnership with Mr Legoe having lasted for 38 years A very charitable man he made many gifts privately and in 1940 save £5.000 towards the founding of a women s college at the Uni-versity or Adelaide The late Mr Wilcox who was a bachelor, is sur-vived by a brother Mr Murray Wilcox. of Sydney and a sister. Miss N. Wilcox. of Brougham place North Adelaide.
